Bollywood actor Sonu Sood and AirAsia India came together through the initiative “Umeed Ki Udaan” where many migrant workers stranded in different parts of the country were airlifted.
The very first initiative was taken on May 29, a group consisting of 147 women and 20 men were airlifted by an AirAsia chartered flight from Kochi, Kerala to the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. This special chartered flight was arranged by Sood to rescue these migrant workers and help them reach their home in Odisha.
Latest was day before yesterday, #UmeedKiUdaan journey continues with another flight supported by NLS Alumni with 173 migrant workers flying to Guwahti from New Delhi.
Mission ‘Aahan Vaahan’ is an NLS (National Law School) Migrant Mazdoor Programme initiative formed by NLS Alumni. Mission ‘Aahan Vahaan’ is 10 flights, over next 3 weeks to take 1800 migrant workers home.
