Fusion and Fashion: Making motherhood more fashionable and fun

A college topper and a BBA student honoured with the award of “Shri Rajeshwar Dayal Memorial Prize,” Parul Mittal was once a client account officer at Indusind bank. However, having no interest in this particular field made her job challenging, which ultimately led her to quit the job.  But after stepping into motherhood, she saw an opportunity to follow something she always longed for- a career in fashion.

This is how Fusion and Fashion bloomed. The name itself says a lot about her niche and her style. She loves to fuse different cultures, and from it brings out an outfit that a girl would like to wear. What started as a simple hobby is quickly turning into a full-time job for Parul, and she isn’t complaining. At over 11k Instagram followers, she does styling videos, mix-and-match series on her feed, and influences people to step out of their comfort zone.

“AFTER BECOMING MOM, I HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE MOTHERHOOD MORE FASHIONABLE AND FUN THEN I STARTED POSTING ABOUT ALL THINGS PARENTING, MOTHERHOOD, AND LIFESTYLE BUT LARGELY FOCUSES ON FASHION”

Although she had an Instagram account before her marriage, it was only after joining DMT (Delhi Mom Tribe) she made up her mind to have a blogging career. Through DMT, she met and interacted with many mom influencers and saw how fashion bloggers use Instagram. On her page, along with her fashion content, she also posts pictures of her adorable daughter frequently.

Her confidence boosted up a notch when she posted a styling video for the first time in her feed. She received a huge appreciation for that video, and people started pushing her to make more such videos.

Her breakthrough moment came when she won a contest for ‘scarf styling.’ For that, she received a gift hamper worth Rs. 6000 from two different clothing brands. And from that moment onwards, she started getting collaborations of different outfit brands. She also receives campaigns for baby products when she began posting about parenting.

“YOUR INSTAGRAM FEED SAYS IT ALL!”

A short and appealing bio is her first tip to grow on Instagram. “Your content speaks about you” shares Parul. She tries various ways to make her content attractive, like for a styling video, a beautiful background, and impressive music are must for her. Furthermore, she reveals that she always uses a good quality camera and white background while making a collaboration post related to baby brands.

“SOME PEOPLE PUT WAY TOO MUCH EFFORT INTO COPYING SOMEONE ELSE’S STYLE THAT THEY’D SOON FORGET THEIR OWN. IT’S EXHAUSTING TRYING TO PRETEND TO BE SOMETHING YOU’RE NOT”

‘Be Authentic’ is her mantra that sets her apart from other influencers. However, in her career of being a social media influencer, Parul opens up that she has faced a lot of jealousy and competition. Unfortunately, it was her relatives from whom she met this challenge. But it is her positive outlook on life that helped her to overcome this situation. According to Parul, positivity, and kindness is the only key to happiness.

“INFLUENCING IS ABOUT CONNECTING, AND THAT’S WHAT MARKETING REVOLVES AROUND TODAY – MAKING US FEEL CONNECTED WITH THE PRODUCT AND PEOPLE WHO PROMOTE THAT PRODUCT”

Over the years, she has worked with various brands. Momspresso, Pampers, Babyhug, Fun ride toys, Dabur chawanprash, Mothersparsh, Mamasearth, and the list goes on and on. In the future, she expressed that she wants to work with reputed clothing and makeup brands like Myntra, Zara, and Nykaa. Parul advises that a brand when looking for an influencer takes into account their followers, engagement rate, reach, likes and comments, and content.

For upcoming influencers, Parul leaves a vital tip. “Stay in your lane. If your content is about fitness, stick with that. Don’t randomly post about fashion, beauty, cooking. That can confuse your audience. If your audience is not interested in that matter, don’t post it.”
