Food Lunatic: A Versatile Food Blogger From Noida

Dimple Arora, the face behind the page Food Lunatic with over 87k followers, is a 26-year-old food blogger from Noida. This journey has given her the opportunity of being invited to high-end restaurants and meeting celebrities. “I’ve done it all” sums up Arora about her over three years long food blogging career.

Although she has a graduate degree in Computer Engineering, her love for food and passion for photography led her to choose this career. Having said that, she never planned to have a career in IT; instead, she wanted to pursue B.Ed. Dimple had been teaching school kids from the very first year of my graduation.

Her aim with her blog is to explore various cuisines, restaurants, street food, and then showcase the best out of it to her audiences. As said by her, she posts diverse content on her feed. Of late, she has been posting various food recipes, and Arora reveals that the response from the audience has been overwhelming.

The reason for naming her page food lunatic is as simple as it sounds. In her words, she is a complete lunatic when it comes to food; however, this crazy love for food is also why she has come a long way in her journey. When she first started this page, Arora mentions that she had no clue it would turn so enormous with time. Quite recently, she has also created her own YouTube channel and is currently focusing on expanding this work.

The audiences or as she addresses them- her Instagram family- plays the role of a constant mood booster for Aurora. They give her suggestions on places, dishes to even movies and songs. Throughout her journey that germinated in June 2017, she explains that she has worked a lot on her content, and in return, she has also received overwhelming response and love from her audience. Overall, her journey ‘has been really good.’ Since she didn’t have huge expectations from her blog, Arora started putting a lot of effort into growing it when she achieved the 10k mark on Instagram. Therein she understood that she is here to stay. “Since then, the graph has gone up and up,” quotes Dimple.

Like other influencers, Dimple’s engagement has also fluctuated between excellent to negligible. However, as said by her, it was her consistency that led her to where she is now. Dimple acknowledges that everyone is different in their beautiful ways. ‘While some are good at taking wonderful pictures, others can cook really well,’ she explains with this simple and straightforward example.

Dimple expresses that creators are more than their follower count and influence. They are content creation experts who showcase their creativity in the form of images, videos, and posts for their feeds. Each has a unique aesthetic, and they create content based on it and understand what their audience will respond to best. In regards to brands promoting products through influencer marketing, Aurora voices that creators can generate content that is on par with what a brand could create.

Some of the brands that she has worked with include Pizza hut, Grofers, Mother Dairy, ITC, Saffola, and Philips. In the future, she aspires to work with worldwide brands while keeping Google on top of the list. She perceives PR agencies as a bridge between an influencer and a brand where they play a vital role. The agencies she has worked with have approached her often for brand campaigns. They have also updated her about all the details coming from the respected brand.

Besides creating and implementing the content that audiences will like the most, Arora had also struggled to overcome another challenge- showing her face in a public platform. ‘I was born with a cleft palate and lip’ she gives the reason she felt insecure in revealing the face that made food lunatic. But she is glad to have the support of her friends and family as it was them who pushed her when her insecurities bubbled up. In retrospect, she realizes that it was her overthinking nature that led to this insecurity. Now she doesn’t shy away from making an appearance on her page.

For budding and upcoming influencers, Dimple stresses how important content is for one’s page. Original content acts as a deciding factor for making an influencer respectful in the eyes of their followers. She is an advocate of working with ethics and never to fall for false activities. ‘It’s not going to be easy, but you need to work harder to stand out of the crowd’ Dimple Arora advises.
