You have a corporate job at hand that provides a good enough paycheck to satisfy all your needs and wants. But what happens when passion comes in between? You have to take a leap of faith. And this is precisely what Monisha Mehta has done. She is an all-rounder influencer with almost 95k Instagram followers at the moment whose page focuses on upcoming trends, beauty, lifestyle products, and travel experiences.
But before this success came to Monisha, she used to work full-time at Reliance Jio. She agrees that even though that job was financially more stable, Monisha didn’t like or feel passionate about it. Moreover, Monisha also thinks that if you put in all your efforts in the right manner and work smart, blogging can also be financially sustainable.
Leaving her job at Jio and pursuing her passion- blogging- full time was indeed a big step, and she also struggled a lot in the Initial days. But her patience and the love and support she received from her audiences encouraged her to do more and keep going.
“MY VISION IS TO MAKE PEOPLE’S LIFE BETTER AND HELP THEM OUT IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. I DON’T PROMOTE ANY SPECIFIC TREND AS I MAKE MY CONTENT FUN, QUIRKY, AND RELATABLE WITH MY AUDIENCE”monisha mehta
She declares that her purpose is to create a positive impact on people’s lives, and that is why she is a firm advocate of showing honest experiences on her page. Whether it’s a review of a product or her travel staycations, Monisha assures that they are always honest. “My mantra in life is doing my best and never giving up on my dreams” She adds.
“MY DAY GOES LIKE PLANNING FOR SHOOTS, ATTENDING EVENTS, EDITING THE CONTENT, GOING FOR TRAVEL STAYCATIONS, AND SENDING THE CONTENT FOR APPROVAL”monisha mehta
Before, when she had a full-time corporate job, Monisha informed us that she used to spend her weekends in blogging and weekdays for her then job. But now she can dedicate her entire week pursuing her passion. In the pre-pandemic time, her days were filled with shoots, editing, traveling, and many more. “You should always put your heart and soul for the passion that makes you happy” she tells us. “Love what you do and do what you love.”
“I LOVED THE BOOK AS IT TAUGHT ME IMPORTANT LESSONS OF LIVING LIFE IN AN EFFECTIVE WAY. IT REVEALS WAYS OF HOW YOU CAN CALM DOWN AND BE PEACEFUL AMIDST YOUR STRESSFUL LIFE”monisha mehta
“Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” by Richard Carlson is Monisha’s favorite book. She expresses that this book has taught her to put things in perspective by making the small day to day changes in our life. Some of the advice she has grasped from the book includes “Think of your problems as potential teachers”; “Remember that when you die, your ‘In’ box won’t be empty”; and “Do one thing at a time.”
“DUE TO CURRENT COVID19 SITUATION, I AM FOCUSING TO LEARN NEW SKILLS, POLISH EXISTING SKILLS, AND KEEP THE CONTENT CREATIVE”monisha mehta
Although due to the pandemic Monisha’s outdoor shoots are canceled, leaving her to work from home, she is taking advantage of this time to focus on learning new skills and becoming better on her existing skills like video editing. “Lockdown has taught me the importance of working on my skills and being independent” includes Monisha.
She advises upcoming bloggers to develop creative, original, and good content. And being consistent and interactive with the audience is the key. For increasing engagement, one should try to use the right set of hashtags. And finally, for getting brand deals, her recommendation is to have a creative feed and good reach.
