Gunjan’s Instagram page is a one-stop destination for young parents or new mothers. With years of experience in treating kids with disabilities and being a mother of two, she has acquired enough knowledge over the time to share it with her audiences. The mom-blogging journey started for her for the past one and a half years, but due to her job as a child physiotherapist, the time used to get divided.
However, now due to the precarious global pandemic, she has time at hand and uses it for full-time blogging. Starting from infants’ developmental milestones to practices like gentle parenting, breastfeeding, and others, Gunjan covers all on her page momknowsmebest.
“ONCE I CROSSED 5K THEN AFTER MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN DUE TO COVID WE ALL WERE IN LOCKDOWN SO NO CHANCES OF RESUMING WORK I POSTED MY STORIES OF RAISING A NEWBORN IN COVID AND I CROSSED 10K.”Doctor GUNJAN JAIN GUPTA
While she was pregnant with her now six-month-old daughter, Gunjan shifted to Gurgaon with her husband and her son. And with this shifting, also came the shift from being in a joint family to a nuclear one wherein she was the only caretaker of her son. Due to these reasons, she had to quit her clinic, giving her the time to post on her social media. “But during my second pregnancy, we shifted to Gurgaon, and I was the only caretaker of my son and was expecting second, so quit my clinic, and then I got more time to post and upload my maternity pictures,” Gunjan tells us.
And with due time, she crossed the 5k mark. But after the birth of her baby, she did plan to resume her work. However, the lockdown started during that time, and as a result, she couldn’t reopen her clinic. Gunjan then started posting on her stories about raising her newborn during this global pandemic induced lockdown. It gave the push in achieving 10k followers on Instagram.
She collaborated with WHO and UNICEF, where she gave seven great parenting tips to follow at the time of COVID-19. As everyone is pushed inside their houses due to the virus, the anxiety and stress level is increasing for both the parents and their kids along with a sense of fear bubbling inside their heads. Gunjan recommends gentle parenting and following ‘don’t shout at home’ in these times. On her page, she also shows various fun activities a kid can do indoors.
WHEN MY SON WAS AROUND 2 YEARS HE STARTED SITTING IN W SITTING WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR KIDS DEVELOPMENT SO I POSTED ON THAT AND GOT MANY DMS…SO I MADE MY PROFILE PUBLIC AND POSTED FEW POSTS ON W SITTING, ROLLING MILESTONE, WALKER ETC AND STARTED GETTING FOLLOWERS.”Doctor GUNJAN JAIN GUPTA
One quality that sets her apart from others is her uploading about informative knowledge like side effects of W sitting, baby delaying a developmental milestone like head control, and for how long it will be fine, baby-led weaning (self-eating), and elimination communication(potty training), and others.
However, Gunjan reveals that explaining these matters to a patient and that to her followers are completely different. While a patient comes with a specific problem, on her page, she isn’t aware of who the viewer is, and hence she has to take broader terms and explain all aspects of the problem.
“WITH OVER 10 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN NEURO PHYSICAL THERAPY AND TREATING KID’S WITH VARIOUS DISABILITIES AND NEUROMOTOR DISORDERS, I SIMULTANEOUSLY ENGAGES IN MOM BLOGGING, LATEST PARENTING TECHNIQUES AND THERAPIES”Doctor GUNJAN JAIN GUPTA
Gunjan has done Masters in Physiotherapy (Neurology) and, over the course of her medical career, has worked with many reputed hospitals as well, including Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (Vasant Kunj) and Institute of Human Behavioural And Applied Sciences (IHBAS- Dilshad Garden). But the job that changed her life is her work in ICD. “I finally worked with Institute for Child Development (ICD – Malviya Nagar), which completely changed my life, and since then, I am working in the field of Child’s social, motor and emotional development and milestone achievement” she explains.
One of the many reasons she explains her love with working in the child department than the others is the feeling she gets after seeing the successful results in a child after the treatment. “Baby has growing stage; they respond well to the therapy or whatever input you give,” Gunjan adds.
“FELT HONOURED WHEN INDIAN FRAGILE SYNDROME ASSOCIATION AND ALSO WHO AND UNICEF COLLABS CAME. IT FEELS GOOD THAT THROUGH MY PAGE I AM SPREADING AWARENESS TOO”Doctor GUNJAN JAIN GUPTA
In her mom blogging journey, she has done many collaborations, whether it is paid, barter, or both. But she is grateful for her collab with Indian Fragile Syndrome Association apart from WHO and UNICEF. Therein, she talked about an inherited intellectual disability called FRAGILE X. In India, most of us aren’t aware of these disabilities or have a wrong concept of it. Regarding this, Gunjan explains the misconception people have with Autism as people believe that all autistic kids are MR (Mentally Retarded), which is nothing but false. “I have seen so many autistic kids who are brilliant in Maths,” she adds. Hence, apart from sharing guidance and parenting tips for new mothers, Gunjan also uses the platform to spread awareness.
