From playing dress up as a child to recommending fashion tips and tricks to over 12k followers on her Instagram, Prerna Jain has come a long way. Relatable and easy to recreate outfits is what she lives by and that also reflects on her feed. It has been almost three years since Prerna stepped on the fashion and lifestyle content creator journey. She is active on almost any social media platform you can think of, be it Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, WordPress, or Pinterest, but more on Instagram in comparison to others. Therein she posts four styling videos in a week that are crisp yet informative.

Her Instagram page germinated in September 2017 with food, fashion, travel, and lifestyle being her niche. However, she started it with no as much goal in mind and unaware of any blogging techniques. But gradually, her content started getting more attention to people and realized that she enjoys posting about her life and sharing it with everyone.
“Then in 2018 I started my WordPress blog and started writing detailed blog posts there about food reviews and fashion tips” Prerna tells us about her initial blog writing days, adding that in 2019 she finally narrowed down her niche to fashion blogging only.Posting about her OOTDs (outfit of the day) and giving details about those outfits received a good response from her audiences. “I would say that was the time that gave me a tremendous response” she says.
While on her Insta page, her followers mainly see short and informative styling videos that are relatable and wearable; her YouTube subscribers get to see long sit down chatty videos where she talks about how she styles, where to shop from, and shares styling and fashion hacks with her community.

Prerna reveals that her fashion hacks videos gains more engagement over pictures; hence, she has started uploading more videos than pictures. Her style is to mix and match different clothing pieces and create a new outfit out of it while keeping it relatable in today’s fashion world. “I like to bring something new to the table every single time. The idea is to make fashion fun and not burdensome for all” she explains.
She further explains that consistency and hardwork are what matters when it comes to gaining audiences, and that is what she follows as well. “I am being very punctual and regular with my content and try to post at least 5 days a week to get more visibility. That is it,” she speaks on how being regular has helped her to gain followers. Redefining her niche to fashion and styling has helped as well.

As Prerna suggests, sharing relatable content and being as truthful and loyal with her audiences has helped distinguish herself from others in the community. “The growth I have seen in myself as a person in terms of mindset, adapting to a better lifestyle, being my own boss kept me motivated all these years” she says about what gives her motivation to keep going. “The idea to be true to yourself and your audience is another thing too”
If not an influencer, Prerna says she would have become a personal stylist or a fashion designer. But whatever that is, it would certainly be something related to fashion. “I know I cannot do with fashion and clothes. Clothes make me the happiest I won’t lie” she adds.

A reason Prerna points out why influencer marketing has proved to be one of the best marketing strategies for brands is because it is the influencers who have the genuine following of people who are also potential customers for brands. “Also, one influencer has the power to actually influence their followers if her followers have great trust in them” she voices out that along with having an audience, they also have a personal connection with them that helps to market a product or service.
She has collaborated with various fashion brands such as Date The Ramp for whom she modeled for their designer ensembles and homegrown brands like Komal Couture for promoting their collection. She has also become a food reviewer for many food chains, including Chaayos, The Irish House, and Shree rathnam. Skin elements, Faces Canada, and Sugar Cosmetics are some of the beauty brands she has worked with.

While struggling with gaining visibility, Prerna, at one point, lost her patience level with it; however, she didn’t give up and kept creating content. One thing that helped her get out of this stagnant phase was asking her followers the type of content they enjoy seeing the most. “It helped me redirecting my energy into the right path, and I started working towards that” she adds. “I feel my content improver because of that. I would thank my audience for it.”
Prerna advises upcoming influencers to be patient and keep working hard and stay focused as it is a slow process when it comes to getting recognized on social media platforms. “The hardwork will pay off someday. Keep improving your content, and that’s it” she suggests.
